Emperor's Courts Skits, Inside Jokes and Segments

This is mainly geared for the new listeners to the program who have been increasingly emailing me saying they love the show, but don't always get the jokes. So, I figured this might help alleviate some of the mystery that veteran listeners already know.

INSIDE JOKES and RULES

Punishment Music One of the rules of any Emperor broadcast is that you don't complain about the music used in the pre-show warmup, or during commerical breaks. Anyone found complaining, either in IRC, AIM, or via email, subjects the listeners to "punishment music." The music then becomes increasingly worse until all yell for mercy. This can take the form of really bad indy music, comedy clips, funny songs, disco, etc.

EC Drinking GameThis is a relatively new edition to the show. Anytime Emperor or Highlander mention the following, everyone listening to the show should take a drink, if you are old enough and inclined enough to imbibe youself with liquor. The list of things that can be mentioned, resulting in a drink are: Ohio, Cleveland, Ohio State, Buckeyes, any Cleveland professional sports team, Clan Imperial Guard, or www.Clan1G.net

Dominic the Italian Christmas Donkey This is one of those things that just "happens." As part of the punishment music rotation, this song done by Dr. Demento played every show for almost 3 months straight, and still appears in the rotation.

"Commercials" Various satirical commercials for fictious products and services occassionally air during the shows breaks. Things like 1-800-Fairy-Paly, Night Elf Women's Hot Line, Chinese Gold Farmers of Azeroth, and American Immigrant are just a few of the examples of these comedic segments.

Gnometard During the final broadcast of the Esports Empire with Emperor, the show hosts of Essence of Roleplaying mentioned something to the affect of a retarded gnome walking around while they were in IRC. Some minutes later, Highlander[1G] and Baron von Gosu[1G] were off and running for the next half hour, fleshing out the possibilities of a retarded gnome, a "Gnometard" that was somehow a cross between a Tauren and a Gnome. Little is known about this character other then he is a Hunter in World of Warcraft, and that there is going to be a series of skits played on the Emperor's Court at some point in the future. It is currently the most requested skit in the Court.

People named.... One of the other long standing rules in the Emperor's Court is to never correct the show hosts on how your online handle is pronounced. This is another rule, like the Punishment Music, that dates to the earliest casts of the 1G Radio Network. Players and listeners who try to correct the hosts are then assigned a new name either by the hosts or by calling for an IRC consensus of the listeners. One player in particular tried to correct how his name was pronounced in the middle of a Warcraft 3 match, and was then labeled by the IRC crowd "The Sausage Queen." This player has never been heard from again.

IRC Rats, Emperor's/Highlander's Cult Fans of the show are referred to as these for either showing their allegiance to one host or the other with special signature pictures, or by hanging out in IRC during the show and interacting with the hosts and community.

Breaking News breaking news stories continually interrupt the hosts in the middle of important junctures in the show

Twilight A popular skit that combines Twilight's Edward Cullen being interviewed by NBC's To Catch a Predator host "Kris Hanson"

SEGMENTS and SKITS

This or That A segment where the hosts ask 5-10 questions of each other consisting of 2 choices. The host being questioned then answers and explains his choice. These questions can cover any topic, but more often then not revolve around video games.

The Quickening Highlander[1G] takes questions from the listeners on any subject, and I mean ANY subject. Highlander then answers the question to the best of his ability, often having nothing to do with the show or video games in general. One of the most popular segments of the show. Send questions to highlander1g@gmail.com

The Meltdown As Emperor[1G] doesn't have the same comedic talents of Highlander, and is bitter by nature, Emperor progresses over the course of the show to reach a "melting point" where he eventually starts screaming into the mic and frothing at the mouth about something in video games or the Internet that irritates him. Topics of his ire have been Vegans in World of Warcraft, "Greening up" Azeroth, Tiger Woods being paid millions by EA for an online game, etc.

Stupid Video Game Moment in History Each week Highlander[1G] highlights a stupid moment in video game history. Some of these many listeners are not aware of, all with facepalming results.
